JSW MG Windsor EV is available in two battery packs with the claimed range going up to 449 km between charges; comes packed with features

JSW MG Motor India has announced that the Windsor EV has crossed the 65,000 unit sales milestone in the domestic market. More importantly, the sales pattern shows over 70 per cent of total Windsor volumes have come from non-metro markets. The company noted that major urban centres such as Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai together accounted for only 30 per cent of sales.

Meanwhile, the remaining 70 per cent came from the rest of the country. A big reason behind this momentum is the Windsor’s segment-leading value proposition. The five-seater is competitively priced and is retailed in an expansive range while offering a packed features list and a spacious cabin. It has helped it appeal to EV upgraders as well as first-time car buyers.

The MG Windsor EV boasts an ‘Aeroglide’ styling which is complemented by features such as an illuminated MG badge, connected LED light bars at the front and rear and smart flush-fitting door handles that pop out automatically. Higher trims further up the premium appeal with 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels and a fixed panoramic glass roof.

MG has given it a upmarket cabin featuring rear seats that recline up to 135 degrees along with a large 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system that handles most in-car functions while providing wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Other notable features include ventilated front seats, a 9-speaker Infinity sound system, 256-colour ambient lighting and a wireless phone charger.

The electric crossover is available with two battery pack choices. The standard version uses a 38 kWh battery with a claimed driving range of 332 km while the Pro variants get a larger 52.9 kWh battery that can deliver up to 449 km on a single charge. Both versions are compatible with 60 kW DC fast charging – allowing the battery to be replenished from 0 to 80 per cent in about 50 minutes. The electric motor produces 136 PS and 200 Nm.

The Windsor EV comes equipped with six airbags, a 360-degree camera and an electronic parking brake with auto hold as standard. Pro variants add Level 2 ADAS features such as adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist along with a powered tailgate and Vehicle-to-Load functionality that allows external devices and appliances to be powered using the car’s battery.
