The Toyota Fortuner continues to reign in the full-size SUV segment, followed by the Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian
Despite the limited options available in the full-size SUV segment, it continues to remain one of the most sought-after segments in India. The customers looking for road presence, powerful engines, a comfortable travel experience and feature-loaded cabin often prefer these full-size SUVs.
The Toyota Fortuner has been dominating the full-size SUV segment for a long time and June 2025 is no different. The Japanese carmaker introduced the Fortuner Neo Drive in June with the 48V mild-hybrid system. Continuing its run at the top spot, Toyota Fortuner posted sales of 2,743 units in June 2025.
This accounts for a 3% YOY growth as 2,675 units of the SUV were sold in the same time period last year in 2024. Similarly, Fortuner saw an increase of 7% in MOM sales. The proven bulletproof reliability coupled with the brand value associated with the Toyota badge is one of the main reasons behind the SUV’s consistent sales.

The Skoda Kodiaq stood at the second spot with 130 units in the bag, registering a YOY de-growth of 5%. The SUV also lost by 38% in the MOM comparison. It is followed by the Jeep Meridian which managed to sell 107 units last month, as compared to 65 units in June 2024. This accounts for a 65% YOY gain, making it the only SUV other than the Fortuner to register yearly growth.
The Gloster’s graph plummeted with a 74% YOY decline by selling just 34 units in June 2025. MG showcased the Majestor at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo/ Auto Expo and it is the facelifted version of the Gloster. The new SUV will be sold alongside Gloster as the range-topping version and it will likely be launched in India in the coming months.

The latest Volkswagen Tiguan, which is currently selling in its R-Line guise in India, posted single-digit sales of only 5 units. It witnessed a negative growth of 94% in the YOY sales chart and similarly, the MOM sales saw a 67% dip. The Tiguan R-Line is being imported into the country via the CBU route and its steep pricing is serving as the limiting factor. Volkswagen is also offering up to Rs. 3 lakh discount on the SUV in July 2025.
