In the list of top 10 cars in H1 2025, Maruti Suzuki WagonR led the way ahead of Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Brezza
India’s passenger vehicle market witnessed a plenty of changes in the pecking order in the first half of 2025. As per January to June 2025 volume data, several popular nameplates saw changes in momentum while Maruti Suzuki continued its dominance in both volume and presence across segments which reflected in the top ten.
The Wagon R ended the H1 2025 period as the country’s highest-selling passenger vehicle clocking 1,01,424 units – just over 1,750 units more than what it managed during the same stretch last year. The Creta, meanwhile, moved up three spots to second position and it was the most sold SUV in the country ahead of a Brezza, Fronx, Nexon and others.
With 1,00,560 units sold, it recorded a ten per cent rise year-on-year as the arrival of the updated version last year has proven to be worth it. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire stood third with 96,101 units – up by two per cent from H1 2024. The Brezza compact SUV followed next with 93,729 units – moving up two places from its earlier rank while recording a four per cent increase over the previous year’s numbers.

The Swift gained four spots this time pushing past 93,000 units. The eleven per cent improvement compared to its H1 2024 performance can be attributed to the arrival of the new generation a while ago. The Ertiga, which posted 91,991 units, held steady mid pack just ahead of another Maruti Suzuki vehicle, the Fronx.
The compact SUV coupe showed the strongest growth percentage among the top ten. Up by fourteen per cent with 88,066 units in H1 2025, it leapt four positions, consolidating its place in the under Rs. 10 lakh space. The Tata Nexon too climbed two places with 87,267 units – representing a nine per cent year-on-year gain.

The Mahindra Scorpio retained a place in the top ten albeit slipping by one spot. Its H1 sales stood at 85,648 units – just about flat compared to the same period last year. The steepest fall came from Tata Punch. Once the top-selling vehicle in H1 2024, the micro SUV saw its volumes shrink by over 25,000 units. With 84,579 units recorded in H1 2025, it dropped nine ranks and now sits tenth.
