Hyundai is steadily working on expanding its SUV lineup. Development is underway on a new range of products from facelifts and updated platforms to entirely new entries. These forthcoming models will cut across various fuel types including petrol, hybrid and electric powertrains. Outlined below are some of the SUVs expected to make their way into Hyundai’s Indian portfolio in the near future:
1. New Hyundai Venue:

The Hyundai Venue is set to receive a significant update – likely timed for a launch around the upcoming festive season. While the powertrain lineup is expected to remain unchanged, the refreshed version will adopt Hyundai’s latest design cues, introduce an updated features list and bring in a more premium cabin.
2. 7-Seater Hyundai Premium SUV:

Hyundai is working on a new three-row SUV designed to slot between the Alcazar and Tucson in its Indian lineup. The upcoming model is being developed around a strong hybrid powertrain. Manufacturing responsibilities are likely to fall to the new Talegaon facility.

3. Hyundai Bayon:

Drawing heavy inspiration from the internationally sold Bayon, it is expected to share its underpinnings with the i20. The common platform approach will allow Hyundai to offer a wide range of powertrain options which could include the familiar 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, the 1.0-litre turbo petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel engines.
4. New Hyundai Creta:

Hyundai is laying the groundwork for a major generational shift in its popular Creta SUV with global launch plans likely to culminate in 2027. The upcoming model is expected to feature a hybrid powertrain for the first time. The exterior and interior revisions will be major as well.

5. Hyundai Tucson Facelift:

The revised Hyundai Tucson, already available in overseas markets, brings with it a number of visible changes. A redesigned grille leads the exterior update joined by reshaped skid plates, modified lighting signatures and new alloy wheels. The cabin takes on a more modern layout with a revamped dashboard and a curved digital display. Although Hyundai has yet to officially confirm its launch, the updated Tucson may be among the upcoming additions to the brand’s premium SUV lineup for India.

6. Hyundai Inster EV:

Hyundai is rumoured to be developing a compact electric SUV specifically for India with its market debut expected around 2026. The project draws loose inspiration from the Inster EV sold internationally. Designed to stay just under the four-metre threshold, the upcoming SUV is expected to take on rivals such as the Tata Punch EV.

7. Hyundai Ioniq 9:

Following its earlier reveal this year, Hyundai’s Ioniq 9 appears to be on course for an India entry in the not-too-distant future. The full-size electric SUV is built on the brand’s dedicated E-GMP platform. If plans proceed as anticipated, the Ioniq 9 will be imported as a completely built unit.
