The upcoming Maruti Suzuki midsize SUV could go by the name Escudo and it will be sold through Arena dealerships
A few months ago, we exclusively revealed that Maruti Suzuki will introduce a brand new five-seater ICE SUV this year. Confirming what we said, the largest car producer in the country is currently planning to debut a new offering on September 3, 2025 and it could go by the name Escudo. It will compete with the Hyundai Creta and the likes in the midsize SUV space.
Positioned a rung beneath the Grand Vitara in Maruti Suzuki’s SUV lineup, the upcoming model is expected to slightly exceed its sibling in overall length. Unlike the Grand Vitara, which is retailed via the Nexa channel, the new entrant could be sold through the Arena network as it could appeal to a wider range of consumers.
Price expectations are currently pegged between Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 15 lakh (ex-showroom). The Maruti Suzuki Escudo is expected to inherit both the 1.5-litre mild hybrid and strong hybrid petrol engines from the Grand Vitara. The mild hybrid variant could be sold in an expansive range but we will have to wait and see how it pans out.

Visually, the model seems to borrow key styling elements from the Grand Vitara while also nodding to the upcoming e Vitara. Judging by the spy pictures, the design features a more upright grille framed by angular LED headlamps and a reshaped bumper integrating LED fog lamps compared to the Grand Vitara.
A wider air dam, revised bonnet and a new front skid plate add visual heft to the nose while the squared-off arches hint at mild ruggedness. Design changes continue with a connected LED light bar, new Y-pattern wheels, new tail lamp graphics, tweaked trunk lid, etc. We can expect new colour schemes to be offered as well.

Inside the cabin, much of the layout and equipment is expected to echo elements from both the Grand Vitara and e Vitara. Features such as a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a semi-digital instrument cluster, sunroof, climate control and multiple airbags will be available.
