Commemorating the 10th Anniversary of NEXA, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has unveiled the Grand Vitara Phantom Blaq Edition. The brand’s premium dealership chain completes a full decade, and the Grand Vitara is currently the flagship SUV in the line-up. The special edition is exclusively available in the top-of-the-line Alpha+ strong hybrid variant, adding the new Matte Black colour to the package. Let’s look at the details of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Phantom Blaq Edition.
To begin with, it is the first time for the Grand Vitara to get a special edition treatment. The highlight of the Phantom Blaq Edition is the exclusive Matte Black colour, which won’t be offered in any other variant. The new matte shade is complemented by gloss Black 17-inch alloy wheels. Upfront, the chrome surround on the front grille has been replaced by a gloss black finish.
In addition to this, the front skid plate and roof rails get the all-black treatment. Similarly, the blacked-out treatment is continued to the rear profile, with the chrome window line and Suzuki logo being the only exceptions.

Inside the cabin, Grand Vitara Phantom Black Edition remains largely unchanged, which boils down to the already all-black theme followed throughout the strong hybrid variant line-up. It comes with a soft-touch finish on the dashboard and perforated faux leather upholstery with champagne gold trims.
In terms of features, the top-spec variant is equipped with all the bells and whistles, including ventilated front seats, 360-degree parking camera, panoramic sunroof, head-up display, wireless charging and more. The SUV comes with a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system, with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, paired to a premium Clarion sound system.

Under the hood, the Grand Vitara Phantom Blaq Edition is only available with the strong hybrid powertrain. It uses a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine, which runs on the Atkinson cycle, paired to a 0.76 kWh battery and an electric motor. The power is channelled to the front wheels via an e-CVT gearbox, putting out 116 hp. The claimed fuel efficiency of the Grand Vitara strong hybrid stands at 27.97 kmpl.
The price and launch timeline of the Grand Vitara Phantom Blaq Edition are under wraps. We expect the special edition to go on sale in the coming weeks. With no major changes to the package apart from the exterior cosmetic upgrade, the Phantom Blaq Edition will likely command a slight premium over the regular Alpha+ strong hybrid variant.
