All-New Aprilia SR 175 Launched In India At Rs. 1.26 Lakh

GaadiWaadi –

Aprilia SR 175 uses a new 174.7 cc, single-cylinder engine tuned to deliver 13.08 bhp at 7,200 rpm and 14.14 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm

Aprilia has introduced the SR 175 in India for the first time and it acts as a replacement to the SR 160 in its scooter portfolio. While the bodywork remains largely unchanged, the updates under the skin and at the cockpit level mark a step forward in technical terms. Prices for the Aprilia SR 175 start at Rs. 1.26 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mechanically, the scooter is powered by a new 174.7 cc, single-cylinder engine which is tuned to deliver a maximum power output of 13.08 bhp at 7,200 rpm and 14.14 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The motor continues to use a CVT unit, replacing the outgoing 160.03 cc engine that made 2 bhp lesser while being 0.7 Nm less torquier.

The SR 175 also rides on 14-inch alloy wheels and is equipped with telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock for suspension duties. A key change lies in the rider interface. The old LCD unit has been replaced by a 5.5-inch colour TFT display that closely resembles the screen seen on the Aprilia 457 twins, the RS 457 and Tuono 457.

Bluetooth connectivity is supported as well while features like the USB charging port and full LED lighting are available too. Braking hardware carries over as before as a 220 mm disc setup at the front works in combination with a drum brake at the rear – supported by single-channel ABS system.

Visually, the design has not been revised. The overall profile remains similar to the SR 160’s though Aprilia has added new decals and colour options to bring a refreshed vibe. Two new paint finishes are being offered – Matte Prismatic Dark and Glossy Tech White. While the design may now appear familiar, its aggressive lines and stance still reflect the brand’s sporting intent.

Despite subtle cosmetic changes, the Aprilia SR 175’s improved performance nudge Aprilia’s sporty scooter into a more relevant space, especially for buyers prioritising spirited appeal and ride quality, at least on paper. It competes with Hero Xoom 160 and Yamaha Aerox 155 in India.
