Yamaha recently launched the XSR 155 in the Indian market at a price tag of Rs. 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Available only in a single variant, the neo-retro roadster shares its underpinning with the MT-15 and R15. While the XSR 155 has no direct rivals, it is pitted against the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and TVS Ronin, as both these motorcycles target the neo-retro segment in a similar price bracket. Let’s look at a quick spec comparison between Yamaha XSR 155, Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and TVS Ronin.
Price
In this comparison, the TVS Ronin is the most affordable motorcycle at a starting price of Rs. 1.25 lakh (ex-showroom), however, its top-end variant extends up to Rs. 1.60 lakh (ex-showroom). On the other hand, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 comes in at Rs. 1.38 lakh, going all the way up to Rs. 1.67 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the most expensive option in the lot.

The XSR 155 is only available in a single fully loaded trim priced at Rs. 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Comparing the top-spec trims, the XSR 155 becomes the most affordable option.

Engine

The XSR 155 is powered by a single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine, putting out 18.1 bhp and 14.2 Nm of peak torque. The Hunter 350 relies on a 349cc air/oil cooled motor, producing 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm of peak torque. The Ronin gets a 225.9cc oil-cooled engine with power output rated at 20.1 and 19.93 Nm of peak torque.

The XSR 155 is the only motorcycle to feature a liquid-cooled engine and a 6-speed gearbox in this comparison. In terms of outright power and displacement, the Hunter 350 is the clear winner, followed by the Ronin. The Yamaha’s neo-retro motorcycle has the highest claimed fuel efficiency of around 46 kmpl, followed by the Ronin at 52.95 kmpl.

Seat Height, Ground Clearance, Fuel Tank Capacity & Suspension Setup

The Hunter 350 has the least seat height at 790 mm, making it accessible for short riders. On the other hand, the Ronin and XSR 155 stand at 795 mm and 810 mm, respectively. In terms of ground clearance, the XSR 155 sits at the bottom with 120 mm, while the Ronin comes with the best 181 mm of ground clearance. The Hunter 350 sits at 160 mm.

The Ronin has a clear advantage with the largest 14-litre tank. The fuel tank capacity of the XSR 155 is the lowest at just 10 litres, while the Hunter 350 relies on a 13-litre unit. Both the XSR 155 and TVS Ronin ride on front USD forks and a rear mono-shock. The Hunter 350, on the other hand, uses a more conventional setup with telescopic front forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear.
Features
In terms of features, the Yamaha XSR 155 is quite loaded with a digital instrument cluster supporting smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth, slip and assist clutch, traction control, dual-channel ABS as standard and an all-LED lighting setup.

The TVS Ronin gets two ABS modes, i.e. Rain and urban, GTT (Glide Through Technology), slipper clutch, digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, all-LED lighting and more. Lastly, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 comes with a semi-digital instrument cluster, USB Type-C fast charging port, slip and assist clutch, LED headlight, dual-channel ABS and a Tripper navigation pod.
