The Carnival nameplate made a significant price jump in India upon the arrival of the fourth generation model in late 2024. Compared to its predecessor, its price doubled but as does the upmarket appeal, cabin and its features list. It is sold via CKD route and sold in a fully-loaded Limousine trim, costing around Rs. 59.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
It derives power from a familiar 2.2L four-cylinder diesel engine producing a maximum power output of 193 PS and 441 Nm of peak torque. In an exclusive report, we can divulge that the Carnival’s range is all set to be expanded with the addition of a petrol variant which is already offered in the international markets. It will be priced more aggressively than the existing oil burner.
It is worth noting that the MPV comes with two petrol, one diesel and a petrol hybrid option elsewhere. Under the hood for India will be a 1.6L turbocharged hybrid setup developing a combined 242 hp and 367 Nm of torque, supported by a 54 kW electric motor which is integrated into a full parallel hybrid system. Power will be sent through a six-speed automatic transmission and it will also feature three-level regenerative braking.

International figures indicate fuel economy ratings of up to 14.5 kmpl and the hybrid version is retailed in multiple trims as well but India may stick with a single full-spec trim. On the equipment front, the exterior details could include 19-inch alloy wheels with gloss black finish, Dark Edition styling accents, LED projector headlamps and LED tail lamps along with dual sunroofs
The features list will also comprise powered sliding rear doors, a smart power tailgate, heated steering wheel, multiple household-style power outlets and integrated sunshades for second and third rows. The dashboard will feature twin 12.3-inch panoramic displays with navigation and connected services, an 11-inch head-up display, Bose premium sound system and in-cabin camera with intercom function.

In addition, the advanced driver-assistance systems in foreign markets include autonomous emergency braking with junction detection, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keeping assistance, highway driving assist, parking collision avoidance and a full surround-view monitor – collectively positioning the hybrid Carnival as one of the most feature-rich MPVs on the market.
