Bookings for both Honda CB125 Hornet and Shine 100 DX have commenced in India; the former competes with TVS Raider, Bajaj Pulsar N125 and Hero Xtreme 125R
Honda has today announced the introductory prices for the recently unveiled CB125 Hornet and Shine 100 DX in India. The CB125 Hornet takes a sportier route with features and styling aimed at younger riders while the Shine 100 DX looks to elevate Honda’s commuter reputation with updated features on the already well received Shine 100 series.
The Honda CB125 Hornet carries a price tag of Rs. 1,12,000 (ex-showroom, Gurugram) while the Shine 100 DX is listed at Rs. 74,959. Both motorcycles are now open for bookings with deliveries expected to begin by mid-August 2025. Positioned as an entry gateway to street naked design, the CB125 Hornet follows an aggressive profile with a sculpted fuel tank, segment-first golden upside-down front forks, a stubby muffler and dual-tone paint finishes.
Honda has offered four colour combinations namely Pearl Siren Blue with Lemon Ice Yellow, Pearl Igneous Black, Pearl Siren Blue with Athletic Blue Metallic and Pearl Siren Blue with Sports Red – each offering visual contrast. Equipment levels on the CB125 Hornet are surprisingly high for its displacement class.
A 4.2-inch full digital TFT screen leads the list – integrated with Honda RoadSync and capable of showing navigation, call and message alerts and on-board diagnostics. Full LED lighting (headlamp, DRLs, indicators and taillight), a front 240 mm petal disc with single-channel ABS and an engine cut-off linked to the side-stand mechanism are other highlights.
The 123.94 cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected OBD2B compliant engine produces 11 hp at 7,500 rpm and 11.2 Nm at 6,000 rpm and is paired with a five-speed transmission. Honda’s performance benchmark for this class claims a 0-60 kmph sprint time of 5.4 seconds. A Type-C charging socket and preload adjustable rear monoshock suspension are also available.
In contrast, the Shine 100 DX carries forward a more traditional commuter tone, anchored around incremental improvements. Subtle chrome accents around the headlamp and muffler cover are new alongside refreshed graphics and grab rails. The engine is now blacked out for a cleaner finish and the side panels and tank get minor design changes.
A long seat continues to be a main feature. Mechanically, the Shine 100 DX is powered by a 98.98 cc single-cylinder unit fitted with Honda’s eSP (Enhanced Smart Power) technology. It develops 7.28 hp at 7,500 rpm and 8.04 Nm at 5,000 rpm, sent through a four-speed transmission. Telescopic front forks, twin rear shock absorbers with adjustability and drum brakes remain unchanged.
A basic LCD instrument panel is now present offering service alerts and real-time mileage readouts. High levels of local sourcing and established service support are expected to help the DX maintain Honda’s stronghold in this segment.
