Honda has discontinued the base V trim while bringing the price of the ZX grade below the Rs 20 lakh mark in the Indian market
Honda Cars India has slashed the price of the City hybrid by Rs 95,010 in the domestic market. The Japanese automaker has pulled the plug on the entry-level V trim of the City e:HEV while bringing down the ex-showroom price of the ZX grade to Rs 19.90 lakh, making it the only strong hybrid sedan in the Indian market under the Rs 20 lakh price bracket. Honda City Hybrid will now only be sold in a single fully-loaded ZX variant while having no direct rival in the domestic market. For reference, the company had hiked the price of the sedan by Rs 29,900 in May 2025.
The City hybrid flaunts all-LED headlamps with DRLs upfront while riding on dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels. The cabin boasts of an 8-inch central touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Some of the other notable comfort features in the sedan include sunroof, wireless charging, and an 8-speaker audio system.
Honda City hybrid has been awarded the highest 5-star safety rating in the crash tests conducted by ASEAN NCAP. It comes loaded with a plethora of advanced safety equipment in the form of 6-airbags, traction control, multi-angle rear camera, emergency stop signal, Hill Start Assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and tyre pressure monitoring system among others.

The sedan also gets Level 2 ADAS tech with a host of advanced safety features in the form of collision mitigating braking system, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation system, lead car departure notification system, lane keeping assist system and auto high-beam. In addition, there is also a lane watch camera which shows the blind spots in the infotainment screen by taking feeds from the left ORVM.
Mechanically, the City e:HEV is powered by the naturally aspirated 1.5L 4-cylinder petrol engine with dual electric motors. Under the Atkinson hybrid system, one motor drives the wheels while the other one charges the lithium ion battery, acting as a generator. The total power output of the hybrid system is 124 bhp while the torque performance is pegged at 253 Nm.

The biggest highlight of the strong hybrid system is the staggering mileage of 27.26 kmpl. The engine is mated to an eCVT gearbox which transmits the power to the front wheels. Honda will soon introduce this hybrid model in many of its upcoming SUVs in the Indian market, including a 7-seater and a midsize SUV.
