Hyundai Prime Taxi range comprises Prime HB hatchback based on the Grand i10 Nios and Prime SD sedan based on the Aura
Hyundai Motor India has officially stepped into the commercial mobility space with the launch of the Prime Taxi range. The brand is directly targeting taxi operators and fleet owners who prioritise uptime, predictable costs and durability. The new range includes two models – Prime HB hatchback based on the Grand i10 Nios and Prime SD sedan based on the Aura.
Just as the standard versions of both models, the Prime HB and Prime SD use a 1.2-litre Kappa four-cylinder engine coupled with a factory-fitted CNG setup. According to Hyundai, the powertrain takes care of high daily running while focussing on low operating costs and long term reliability that the commercial segment desires.
Hyundai has also integrated a company-fitted Speed Limiting Function capped at 80 kmph – making the cars compliant with commercial regulations straight out of the showroom. The Prime SD delivers a claimed mileage of 28.40 km per kg on CNG while the Prime HB returns 27.32 km per kg. With running costs estimated at just 47 paise per km, Hyundai has positioned the Prime range as an income generator for full-time taxi operators.

Hyundai has also paid attention to safety and comfort – areas that are often compromised in budget-focused commercial vehicles. Both models come equipped with six airbags, rear AC vents, front and rear power windows, rear parking sensors, emergency stop signal and three-point seatbelts. Features such as height-adjustable seating, steering-mounted audio controls, footwell lighting and Type-C USB fast charging facility are also available.
To further tailor the cars for fleet use, Hyundai is offering a set of optional accessories. These include a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a rear camera and a vehicle location tracking device with four panic buttons. Backing the product is a specially designed ownership package as well.

Hyundai is offering extended warranty coverage up to five years or 1,80,000 km, flexible finance options with repayment periods of up to 72 months and access to trained Fleet Care Advisors at dealerships. Bookings are now open nationwide for Rs. 5,000 with prices starting at Rs. 5.99 lakh for Prime HB and Rs. 6.89 lakh for Prime SD (ex-showroom).
Both have been made available in three colours namely Atlas White, Typhoon Silver and Abyss Black. Commenting on the new launch, Tarun Garg, Managing Director & CEO designate, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said “With the introduction of Prime HB and Prime SD, HMIL is proud to enter the commercial mobility space with products that are engineered for trust, reliability and good earning potential. Fleet operators and taxi drivers look for vehicles that deliver maximum uptime, predictable maintenance and low operating costs, and the Hyundai Prime range has been developed precisely with these priorities in mind.”
