Hyundai Staria Electric gets an 84 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a 218 PS electric motor; claims to deliver a range of 400 km on WLTP cycle

Hyundai Motor Company has officially introduced the Staria Electric at the Brussels Motor Show. Its global debut indicates the company’s ambition to make large-format electric vehicles both practical and accessible especially in markets where MPVs remain a preferred choice for everyday transportation. It comes equipped with an 84 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

It works alongside an electric motor mounted at the front producing 218 PS maximum power and 350 Nm of peak torque. Power is delivered to the front wheels and the electric drivetrain has been tuned for refinement offering quiet operation and consistent power delivery across varying driving conditions according to Hyundai.

One of the Staria Electric’s most significant technical features is its 800-volt electrical architecture which allows rapid energy flow with reduced thermal stress enabling repeated fast charging sessions without compromising efficiency. Under optimal DC charging conditions, the battery can be replenished from 10 to 80 per cent in just 20 minutes.

For daily use, an 11 kW AC charger supports convenient charging at home or at the workplace. Hyundai estimates a WLTP driving range of up to 400 km on a single charge. The electric layout enables a flat floor and a long wheelbase resulting in a highly open cabin with generous headroom and legroom across all rows.

Large windows, a low belt-line and a tall roofline allow natural light to fill the interior, creating a lounge-like atmosphere. Hyundai will offer the Staria Electric in two seating configurations to suit different requirements. The seven-seat Luxury variant will look to attract private owners and lifestyle buyers while the nine-seat Wagon version is targetted at larger families, group travel and shuttle operations.

Both versions get adaptable cargo space, wide sliding doors and a large tailgate opening for improve accessibility. On the outside, the Staria Electric retains the model’s distinctive one curve silhouette complemented by electric-specific styling elements. A closed-off front fascia replaces traditional air intakes, giving the MPV a cleaner and more aerodynamic appearance.

A horizontal lighting strip across the front emphasises width while smooth surfaces and minimal detailing show its modern character. Inside, a wide horizontal dashboard integrates dual 12.3-inch digital displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. Hyundai’s latest Connected Car Navigation Cockpit supports over-the-air updates, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration as well as cloud-based services.

Vehicle-to-Load functionality adds practical value while the full Hyundai SmartSense ADAS suite provides comprehensive driver assistance across city driving, highways and parking scenarios. Production of the Hyundai Staria Electric will begin at the company’s Ulsan plant in South Korea. Sales are scheduled to start first in Korea and Europe in the opening half of 2026.
