Renault Bridger concept will give rise to a new sub-4-metre SUV that will sit below the Duster upon arrival late next year
Renault has officially unveiled the Bridger Concept – a compact SUV that previews a future production model which is expected to play an important role in the brand’s expansion plans across the globe. It hints at a new sub-4-metre SUV that could eventually sit below the all-new Renault Duster which is why it is already being referred to by some as a “Mini Duster.”
The Bridger Concept has been developed with international markets in mind but India will be among the first regions to receive the production version. Renault has confirmed that the upcoming SUV will be built locally and part of the company’s plans to consolidate its footprint in emerging markets. Production is expected to begin as early as 2027 ahead of market launch later in the year.
As for design, the concept gets an upright stance that gives it a strong presence despite its compact dimensions. The front end features sculpted surfaces and wide-set lighting elements that extend towards the grille while the squared wheel arches and high ground clearance emphasise its SUV character. Renault has also added a tailgate-mounted spare wheel.

One of the most notable aspects of the Bridger Concept is its 200 mm ground clearance which should up its practicality. The concept rides on 18-inch wheels – helping it achieve a planted stance while also enhancing its visual appeal. The overall design language combines sharp geometric lines with clean surfaces and the production version is expected to retain most of its design cues.
Despite its compact footprint, Renault claims the concept has been engineered to offer ample interior space. Rear passengers benefit from around 200 mm of knee room which is considered generous for a sub-4-metre SUV. The boot offers approximately 400 litres of capacity as well. The road-going avatar will sit on Renault’s RGMP small modular platform.

The architecture is already being heavily localised in India as it also underpins the new Duster whose prices will be announced soon. It allows the support to multiple powertrain options and depending on the market, the SUV could be offered with petrol, hybrid or fully electric powertrains giving Renault the flexibility to utilise the five-seater based on regional requirements and evolving emission regulations.
