Jeep’s newly revealed long-term direction for India under its ‘Jeep 2.0’ roadmap places India at the core of its Asia-Pacific operations

Jeep has confirmed to add a brand new SUV to its Indian portfolio next year. Previously reports indicated the brand exploring multiple directions to expand its footprint. Among the possibilities are a midsize SUV measuring between 4.3 and 4.6 metres, positioned to sit below the Compass. Speculation around a smaller and more affordable Jeep has never fully faded keeping the door open for a compact model.

Global products such as the Jeep Renegade and the all-electric Avenger were also part of the rumour mill in the past. Both models have been successful in international markets and could make sense for India if Jeep decides to chase scale. While nothing has been officially confirmed, the brand’s focus on localisation could be key to bringing in new offerings.

The potential product expansion aligns with Jeep’s newly revealed long-term direction for India under its ‘Jeep 2.0’ roadmap. The strategy places India at the core of Jeep’s Asia-Pacific operations – indicating the country’s growing importance as a sales market as well as a manufacturing, engineering and export base within the Stellantis ecosystem.

Jeep 2.0 follows a gradual approach as it looks to build consistency and confidence over time. India is expected to shoulder a dual role – serving domestic customers while supporting global programmes through development capabilities and production strength. On the product front, Jeep plans to continue leveraging its globally recognised SUV lineage.

While the next-gen models are expected closer to the end of the decade, the current range will remain relevant through regular updates, special editions and feature enhancements. The larger transformation including new platforms and technologies will begin from 2027 onwards. Vehicles produced at the Ranjangaon facility near Pune are already being shipped to markets such as Japan, Australia and New Zealand.

Going forward, Jeep aims to extend this export network to additional regions including parts of Africa and North America. Cost competitiveness will also be addressed through deeper localisation. Jeep is working towards achieving up to 90 per cent local sourcing, a move that should improve pricing flexibility and reduce exposure to global supply disruptions.

Jeep is also investing in ownership experience and brand engagement. Initiatives focused on assured buybacks, maintenance packages, extended warranties and loyalty programmes are being expanded. Alongside this, Jeep continues to nurture its enthusiast community through off-road events and experiential platforms.
