Kia Carens Clavis EV will be retailed with two battery options and its claimed range goes up to 490 km per charge

Following the release of the official pictures online, Kia India is set to announce the prices of the Carens Clavis EV tomorrow. The pre-bookings are expected to begin soon as well. Based on the recently refreshed Carens Clavis ICE, the electric version carries over several familiar cues while adding some EV-specific detailing.

The front end of the Kia Carens Clavis EV gets a light bar stretching across the fascia, flanked by a triple-pod LED headlamp arrangement. A charging flap is also positioned on the nose. Additional elements include fog lamps placed just above the skid plate and a set of newly designed dual-tone alloy wheels.

The cabin layout follows the new Kia family approach featuring a two-spoke steering unit, twin digital displays (one for instrumentation and the other for infotainment), a raised centre tunnel, roof-integrated AC vents for rear passengers, ambient lighting and wireless charging. Kia’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) system will also be part of the package allowing the car to power external electrical devices.

Inside, the Clavis EV will adopt a seven-seat layout as standard and we do expect a six-seat configuration to be available as well. It will become the first midsize electric MPV in India upon arrival and the prices could start around Rs. 15 lakh (ex-showroom). The zero-emission model is expected to use Kia’s i-Pedal regenerative braking technology giving drivers the option of single-pedal operation.

Although the brand has not disclosed electric motor specifications or battery output yet, an IDC-claimed driving range of up to 490 km between charges has been confirmed. Powertrain details are still under wraps but the Hyundai Creta Electric’s battery options, the 42 kWh and the 51.4 kWh units, are the mostly likely choices.

Kia is looking to widen its electric range in India with the Syros EV likely set for a market debut in 2026. Aimed squarely at the budget-conscious end of the segment, the compact SUV will take on rivals like the Tata Punch EV. While official specifications have not been revealed, the Syros EV is expected to slot beneath the Seltos.
