Over one lakh units of the Kia Sonet have been exported to nearly 70 global destinations including Middle East, Africa, Central and South America
Kia India has achieved a major milestone in the domestic market as the Sonet has surpassed five lakh unit sales in just over half a decade since the SUV’s local debut in September 2020. The achievement further cements the Sonet’s position as one of Kia’s most important models in the highly competitive compact SUV segment in India.
Since its introduction, the Sonet has played a crucial role in consolidating Kia’s footprint across the country. It appeals to a wide customer base ranging from first-time car buyers to young families. Manufactured locally under Kia’s ‘Make in India, for the World’ strategy at the Anantapur facility in Andhra Pradesh, the Sonet has also made its presence felt in international markets.
Over one lakh units of the model have been exported to nearly 70 global destinations such as regions such as the Middle East, Africa, Central and South America, Mexico and parts of APAC. In terms of contribution, the Sonet has emerged as a backbone of Kia India’s sales operations – accounting for around 35 per cent of the brand’s domestic volume figures.
Notably, the model crossed the one lakh annual sales mark for two consecutive years. According to the brand, the consistent preference for higher trims also points to increasing customer interest in connected features, safety technologies and premium equipment. The five-seater’s success can largely be attributed to its wide range of engine and transmission choices.
The flexibility has allowed consumers to select configurations that best suit their driving needs and budgets. As Kia India continues to expand its presence, with over 820 touchpoints across nearly 370 cities, the Sonet plays an integral role in garnering volumes. Currently, the Sonet is priced between Rs. 7.30 lakh and Rs. 14.09 lakh (ex-showroom) and it received a mid-cycle update in January 2024 as well.
