Kia will bring in the Carnival petrol hybrid around festive season while the Syros EV is also expected to launch this year

Kia India is preparing to expand its domestic range in 2026 with two upcoming models – an entry-level electric SUV and a hybrid MPV – appealing to emerging and premium segments respectively. The two vehicles expected this year are the Kia Syros EV and a petrol hybrid version of the Kia Carnival – each targeting very different buyer groups. Here we have explained them:

1. Kia Carnival Petrol Hybrid:

The Kia Carnival petrol hybrid combines a 1.6-litre petrol engine with a 54 kW electric motor to deliver a total system output of 242 hp and 367 Nm. The setup functions as a full parallel hybrid and sends power through a six-speed automatic gearbox. It is also expected to include adjustable regenerative braking with three selectable levels.

Globally, the MPV is sold with multiple powertrain choices. The upcoming hybrid variant for India is expected to be priced below the existing diesel version – potentially making it a more attainable option within the range. Feature highlights seen in international versions include 19-inch alloy wheels with dark finishes, LED lighting elements, dual sunroofs, etc.

The Syros EV is expected to serve as an accessible electric SUV positioned near the base of the segment. Reports indicate it could be developed from the Syros architecture and draw design and technology inspiration from concept studies such as the EV2. The electric SUV will be offered with two battery pack options and it will be packed with features and technologies.
