Kylaq Lifts Skoda Sales In Jan 2026 As Volkswagen Sees Drop

Kylaq continues being key to Skoda’s growth in India, while Volkswagen struggles due to not having a single sub-4 metre model in its line-up

Backed by its sub-4 metre model, the Kylaq, Skoda is continuing to grow sales in the Indian market. Volkswagen, on the other hand, continues to slip into the red. Skoda delivered 5,739 cars in January 2026, registering a 39% year-on-year growth. For the record, the company had sold 4,133 cars in January 2025, when the Kylaq was still in the launch phase.

The Kylaq was Skoda’s best-selling model in January 2026, with 3,220 units delivered. The sub-4 metre SUV saw a 159% year-on-year growth last month (January 2025: 1,242 units). The Tata Nexon rival’s prices start at 7,59,000 rupees (ex-showroom).

The Slavia recorded 1,946 units in sales last month, registering a year-on-year growth of 29% (January 2025: 1,371 units). The Hyundai Verna rival’s prices start at 9,99,900 rupees (ex-showroom).

The Kushaq, being in the runout phase, saw a massive decline in sales in January 2026. Skoda shipped just 434 units of the Hyundai Creta rival last month, and this marked a 68% year-on-year decline (January 2025: 1,371 units). It is priced from 10,66,000 rupees (ex-showroom) and will be replaced by the facelifted version next month, which is likely to be pricier.

The second-generation Kodiaq, priced from 39,99,000 rupees (ex-showroom), recorded 139 units in sales last month. In January last year, the first-generation Kodiaq was nearing discontinuation ahead of the latest model’s launch and had recorded just 10 units in sales.

Volkswagen sold 2,710 cars in January 2026, which marked a year-on-year decline of 19% (January 2025: 3,344 units). The Virtus was its best-seller, with 1,881 units sold, up 5% from January 2025 (1,795 units). The Slavias corporate cousin is priced from 10,49,900 rupees (ex-showroom). The Taigun registered 790 units, down 49% over January 2025. Prices of the Kushaq rival start at 10,58,300 (ex-showroom).

Volkswagen virtus-4

The third-generation Tiguan, priced at 45,73,000 rupees (ex-showroom), contributed 34 units to Volkswagens January 2026 sales. In January 2025, the company had shipped only one unit of the second-generation Tiguan. The German automaker appears to have started dispatching Tayron to dealerships, beginning with five units in January 2026. It will launch the three-row SUV at the end of this month.
