Mahindra posted 2,01,938 units in April-July FY26 period with an impressive YoY sales growth of 21.7 per cent in India
Mahindra & Mahindra is edging closer than ever to Maruti Suzuki in India’s utility vehicle market with the sales gap narrowing sharply in the current fiscal. In the first four months of FY26, the difference in volumes dropped to just 12,700 units from over 53,000 a year earlier. July alone saw Mahindra trail by just 2,900 units – the slimmest margin in nearly a decade.
It raises the prospect of a leadership change in a segment it dominated in the past. A diverse UV portfolio including the Thar, Scorpio N, Bolero, XUV 700, XUV 3XO and born electric series has powered Mahindra’s 21.7 per cent year-on-year growth to 2,01,938 units in April-July FY26 while Maruti’s utility vehicle sales slipped 6 per cent to 2,14,641 units.
Strategic feature packaging, SUV appeal across price points and a pipeline of aggressive launches have further strengthened M&M’s momentum. The recent arrival of the XEV 9e and BE6 has proven to add up volumes as some of the variants of the INGLO platform based zero-emission offerings demand a high waiting period.

Doubling down on its product expansion, Mahindra will reveal new concepts this Independence Day at a grand event in Mumbai. One of the key showcases will be the close-to-production avatar of the Thar.e concept unveiled a while ago in South Africa as it will be one of the four concepts that have been teased along with a new platform.
They are Vision S, Vision T, Vision X and Vision SXT which in particular appears to be the evolved prototype of the Global Pik Up concept. The lifestyle pickup truck will be based on the Scorpio N. The Vision S concept looks to act as a precursor to the fully electrified version of the Scorpio N and we will have to wait and see what really pans out.
