Over the next few years, Mahindra expects its core vehicle operations to deliver high growth standards as plenty of new models are waiting in the pipeline

Mahindra & Mahindra has drawn up a long range roadmap that puts its automotive arm right at the front of its growth story for the next decade. The company is no longer just talking about scale but about building depth across its strongest pillars, especially SUVs and light commercial vehicles, which continue to form the backbone of its domestic and global ambitions.

At the centre of this plan is a calculated acceleration in its automotive business. Over the next few years, Mahindra expects its core vehicle operations to deliver high growth standards compared to the rest of its group companies. SUVs, which have become the brand’s identity for years, and LCVs, where it already enjoys market leadership, are expected to be the primary contributors to this expansion.

Mahindra is also targeting a stronger global footprint with increased focus on both right-hand drive and left-hand drive markets. New modular platforms, technology packed architectures and evolved design language are being lined up to support this strategy as Mahindra looks to position itself as one of the faster growing SUV manufacturers globally.

Recently, Mahindra showcased four new concepts and the NU_IQ platform which will spawn models by 2027. The company has recently been expanding its ICE portfolio with new additions and updates while its electric range will see huge expansion over the next 3-4 years. The XEV 9S is arriving soon while the BE 6 Rall-E, Thar and Scorpio EVs and more born EVs are waiting in the pipeline.

In the LCV space, the strategy is focused on tightening its grip rather than just adding volume. Already controlling more than half of India’s domestic LCV market, Mahindra is now expanding its presence in the sub-3.5 tonne category – developing multi-energy platforms and strengthening its reach in rural and semi-urban regions where demand for practical commercial mobility remains strong and consistent.

Over the last five years, Mahindra’s standalone automotive volumes have roughly doubled to about 9.28 lakh units. In addition, consolidated automotive revenues have surged past Rs. 90,800 crore while improving overall financial efficiency across its vehicle portfolio. The farm equipment business is targeting a threefold jump while Mahindra Finance is looking to multiply its asset base five times with tighter control on asset quality.

Mahindra has made it clear that future investments will prioritise businesses with sustainable returns and scalable potential. With group-level PBIT already rising over the last five years, it gears up to maintain consistency, strengthen operational efficiency and ensure that growth over the next decade is financially resilient.
