The production version of the Mahindra Vision S concept is expected to launch sometime early next year and it could share engine options with XUV 3XO

Mahindra will steadily expand its product portfolio in the near future which will include a pickup derived from the Scorpio N and an electric SUV based on the Thar Roxx. Adding to this upcoming range is the Vision S, a new compact SUV that has once again been spotted undergoing road trials in India – hinting progress toward its expected launch in 2027.

Unlike traditional ladder-frame offerings in the brand’s stable, the Vision S will be built on the newly developed NU_IQ monocoque architecture. The modular platform has been engineered to underpin several forthcoming utility vehicles and indicates Mahindra’s endeavour to bring in more lightweight and versatile constructions for future models.

From a positioning standpoint, the Vision S will likely slot between the Scorpio N and Mahindra’s smaller XUV 3XO SUVs. Recent spy shots reveal a distinctly upright and boxy form. The test mule features squared window outlines, chunky wheel arches and a rear-mounted spare wheel. Thick rear pillars and a relatively slim rear windscreen add to its profile.

While it carries strong proportions, its footprint suggests it will be more manageable in urban environments compared to the Scorpio N and its resemblances with the bigger sibling cannot be ruled out. Interior glimpses from earlier prototypes indicate a well-equipped cabin even in the low and mid-level grades.

A semi-digital instrument cluster with a coloured information display was spied along with second-row assist handles. Expectations also include a large panoramic sunroof, a centrally mounted touchscreen infotainment system, cruise control, adjustable headrests for all occupants, a rear-centre armrest and standard three-point seatbelts.

Powertrain duties in the production version could be handled by engines shared with the Mahindra XUV 3XO – allowing the company to leverage existing mechanical packages with manual and automatic transmission choices. It could also be built to receive five stars in Bharat NCAP and Global NCAP protocols.
