Mahindra’s third model in the ‘Born Electric’ range of premium EVs is confirmed to make its world debut on 27th November
The upcoming Mahindra XEV 9S will likely be the company’s new flagship model, positioned above the XEV 9e. Like the SUV-coupe, it will be loaded to the brim with premium technologies and features.
In one of the video teasers recently, Mahindra confirmed that the XEV 9S’s interior will look very similar to the 9e. The clip revealed the upcoming model featuring three 12.3-inch displays integrated into the dashboard, a two-spoke steering wheel with touch-operated buttons and an illuminated brand logo, and sliding second-row seats.
Other interior highlights of the Mahindra XEV 9S should include AR-HUD, ventilated front seats with a memory function, six-way power adjustment, and manual lumbar support for the driver, a Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos, and 65-watt USB Type-C fast-charging ports. On the outside, we expect sequential turn indicators, 19-inch alloy wheels, a kick-activated power tailgate, and a large frunk with an additional cargo space of around 150 litres.

The Mahindra XEV 9S will come with some of the most cutting-edge safety features available on made-in-India cars. Forward Collision Warning System, Automatic Emergency Braking, Driver Drowsiness Detection, Evasive Steering Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Centering Function, Traffic Sign Recognition, Front Vehicle Start Alert, Blind Spot Detection, Forward and Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Door Open Alert will be among its long list of advanced driver assistance systems. Seven airbags will provide excellent passive safety.
Even though the XEV 9S’s silhouette will be very similar to the XUV700, it will be a completely different vehicle underneath, based on a skateboard platform. It will have semi-active dampers and variable-ratio power steering and provide the conveniences of adjustable regenerative braking and one-pedal driving.

Mahindra will likely offer the XEV 9S in standard-range and long-range variants, both with a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) powering the rear wheels. The former’s motor should produce 228 hp and 380 Nm of torque and the latter’s 282 hp and 380 Nm of torque. The base variant will likely carry a 59 kWh LFP battery pack and the top variant a 79 kWh LFP battery pack. The former may deliver a range of almost 500 km and the latter close to 600 km.
