Maruti Brezza

The sport utility and multi utility portfolio of Maruti Suzuki, consisting of models such as Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny and XL6, registered a total of 72,756 units

Last month turned out to be another favourable one for Maruti Suzuki with overall dispatches reaching 2,13,995 vehicles. Out of this figure, 164,130 units were sold within the country, 10,710 units were billed to the other manufacturer and 39,155 units were exported to overseas destinations. A significant development during the month was the changing composition of sales in line with the market’s trendiness.

Utility vehicles nearly matched the combined output of entry level and compact passenger cars. The sport utility and multi utility portfolio, consisting of models such as Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny and XL6, registered a total of 72,756 units. This was just short of the 76,624 units achieved by the mini and compact car categories taken together.

Looking at the smaller car segments individually, the mini range of Maruti Suzuki including Alto and S-Presso contributed 10,238 units – almost unchanged from 10,226 units recorded in February last year. The compact lineup comprising Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift and WagonR delivered 66,386 units – lower than the 72,942 units sold in the corresponding period last year.

The van division, represented by the Eeco, posted 11,620 units during the month – a marginal improvement over 11,493 units a year earlier. The Super Carry light commercial vehicle added 3,130 units – up from 2,710 units during the same period twelve months ago.

The domestic passenger vehicle sales stood at 1,61,000 units for the largest carmaker in the country which closely aligned with the 1,60,791 units recorded in the same month last year. When light commercial vehicles are included, domestic volumes rose to 1,64,130 units. After accounting for OEM supplies, total domestic dispatches reached a total of 1,74,840 units.
