With 650 horsepower and 840 Nm of torque available instantly, the Jeep Recon lunges from a standstill to 96 kmph in just 3.6 seconds
The 2026 Jeep Recon arrives as the brand’s first fully electric model built specifically for the trail. It packs serious numbers and stays true to the brand’s roots at least on paper. With 650 horsepower and 840 Nm of torque available instantly, the SUV lunges from a standstill to 96 kmph in just 3.6 seconds – a figure that sounds almost absurd for something sitting on chunky 33-inch tyres.
Jeep claims an estimated range of up to 402 km depending on trim but the focus is on capability first, efficiency second. The company has built the Recon on a dedicated electric architecture – pairing a front and rear electric drive module, each rated at 250 kW. The Moab trim even gets a shorter 15:1 rear final drive ratio to multiply torque for slow and technical crawling.
An electronic locking rear differential ensures both rear wheels pull together when demanded while the front axle uses an open differential with wheel-end disconnects to reduce drag on smoother highways. With approach, breakover and departure angles of 33.8, 23.3 and 33.1 degrees respectively along with 9.1 inches of ground clearance, the Recon’s spec sheet reads like it belongs to a seasoned off-roader.

The familiar seven-slot grille now uses illuminated outlines coupled with sharp U-shaped daytime running lights. The Recon gains removable doors, swing-gate glass and rear quarter glass alongside dual-pane roof, a rear-mounted spare and Wrangler-like tail lamps. The horizontal dashboard incorporates a prominent grab handle, scratch-friendly textures and a modular accessory rail for cameras or navigation devices.
The centre console offers two tiers of storage including a wireless charging shelf above a deep compartment designed for larger items. The rear seats fold to reveal 1,866 litres of cargo space and there’s a compact front trunk sized to hold a carry-on suitcase. Interior materials include Capri synthetic upholstery and recycled elements in the carpets and headliner.

The cabin is dominated by a 12.3-inch driver display paired with a 14.5-inch touchscreen – the largest single screen Jeep has ever fitted. Uconnect 5 powers the interface while features like Dynamic Range Mapping, integrated Trails Off-road data and expanded EV pages offer practical tools. An Alpine audio system comes standard with speakers repositioned under the seats so the soundtrack stays clean even when the doors are off.
The Moab trim gets a desert-inspired Joshua Tree tan interior theme developed after Jeep’s design team visited the national park. The 2026 Recon enters production early next year at the Toluca plant in Mexico. Initial launches will cover the United States and Canada with a broader global schedule planned afterward.
