Mercedes-Benz VLE is equipped with a 115 kWh battery pack which works in tandem with an advanced 800-volt electrical architecture
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the new VLE, an all-electric luxury people mover that combines the comfort of a limo with the practicality of a multi-purpose vehicle. Built on the brand’s new van-based electric architecture, the VLE serves a wide range of buyers including large families and premium shuttle services while being pitched to deliver all the goodness typically associated with a Mercedes luxury sedan.
Unlike traditional MPVs, the VLE focuses heavily on passenger comfort and interior flexibility. The cabin can be configured with up to eight seats spread across three rows and the German manufacturer says the seating layout can be rearranged depending on whether the priority is passengers or luggage. In essence, the idea is to offer the space of a van without sacrificing the travelling experience found in a high-end limousine.
The model runs on the brand’s new Mercedes‑Benz Operating System (MB.OS) which controls everything from infotainment to driver assistance features. Coupled with the latest Mercedes‑Benz User Experience (MBUX), the system enables a highly connected digital environment inside the vehicle. One of the standout elements is a large retractable 31.3-inch panoramic display for rear passengers capable of streaming movies, running games or even supporting video meetings.

The Mercedes-Benz VLE is equipped with a 115 kWh battery pack which works in tandem with an advanced 800-volt electrical architecture – enabling faster charging and improved efficiency. Mercedes claims the electric grand limousine can travel over 700 km on a full charge (WLTP) while fast charging can add around 355 km of range in about 15 minutes.
Ride comfort remains central to the vehicle’s character. The VLE comes with AIRMATIC air suspension which constantly adjusts damping to maintain a smooth and composed ride. Rear-axle steering further improves manoeuvrability allowing the large vehicle to handle tight city streets and parking areas more easily than its size would normally suggest.

The interior design oozes luxury as has been the case with the surface trims and materials. A large Sky View panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting that extends through all three rows and lounge-like seating layouts are meant to create a relaxed environment for passengers. The cabin can essentially transform from a family hauler to an executive shuttle based on the configuration chosen.
Powertrain options will include multiple electric variants with the most powerful version producing up to 409 hp and featuring 4MATIC all-wheel drive.
