New Tata Punch Spied 2026 EV

Tata Punch ICE and EV will receive notable updates in 2026; the latter has already been confirmed

In the light of reaching 2.5 lakh unit sales milestone for its EV in around five years and the Nexon EV becoming the first all-electric passenger vehicle to garner over one lakh sales, Tata Motors announced recently that three new EVs are scheduled to launch in calendar year 2026 in India. They are the Sierra EV, new Punch EV and the first model from the EMA based Avinya series.

While the Avinya range will spawn a sportback or an SUV by the end of 2026, the Sierra EV and the facelifted Punch EV will arrive much earlier. Considering the good reception for the new IC-engined Sierra, its electric counterpart will follow in the coming months while the new Punch has also been caught testing multiple times in recent months.

Here we showed you latest spy images of revised Punch but whether it is an ICE or electric test mule remains debatable. The ICE Punch has been around since late 2021 and it helped establish a stronghold for the brand alongside the Nexon in the sub-four-metre category and it regularly finds itself finishing amongst the top sellers in the SUV table.

But it has not received a notable update yet. The Punch EV, on the other hand, has been on sale for almost two years only but its upcoming avatar has been confirmed for 2026. Nevertheless, we expect both ICE and electric versions to get the mid-cycle makeover around the same time. The prototype duo gives away a closed off front grille and tweaked headlamp housings.

However, the swooping bonnet with DRLs tucked underneath remain the same as the existing Punch EV. We do not see a front-mounted charging port rising the possibility that it could be an ICE model but it could be hidden cleverly under the camo. The pillars and roof are finished in black suggesting along with turn indicator integrated electrically adjustable ORVMs.

The 360-degree camera module can also be seen along with newly designed aero-styled wheels. The side profile remains identical to the outgoing model while the rear is expected to get revised tail lamps and bumper as part of the cosmetic enhancements. The Punch ICE facelift will continue with the existing 1.2L petrol engine while the EV could get updates to its range figures.

The interior is expected to gain a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a new steering wheel and a refreshed dashboard besides the inclusion of new features and technologies.
