European-made, more advanced e-C3 might be just what Citroen needs to find success and we will have to wait and see how it really pans out
The Euro-spec Citroen e-C3 has been spied undergoing testing around Bengaluru, sparking rumours of an Indian launch. However, details we’ve observed suggest this speculation may be unfounded. The red-coloured model seen in these spy shots is the Euro-spec e-C3 but Citroen appears to be testing it only for research and development purposes.
The company has camouflaged only the brand logo at the front and rear, and the entire exterior being left undisguised is a clear indicator that it is not testing the car to evaluate its potential for India, at least not in the current form.
The Euro-spec C3 twins feature an exterior design that is noticeably more upscale compared to the duo we get in India. They have a stronger road presence with a more upright, technical-looking, and elegant front and rear fascias. Sharper character lines and deeper sculpting along the sides further enhance the exterior styling.

A three-tiered grille layout, sleek, LED headlamps, more muscular bumpers, circular wheel arch claddings, larger, 17-inch wheels, squarer, LED tail lamps, and a larger rear spoiler are among the key differences seen on the European cars. Inside, everything from the dashboard to the steering wheel, centre console, door cards, seats, and AC vents carries a more polished design. The feature set is better too, with a head-up display, a wireless smartphone charger, an automatic climate control system, and two USB Type-C charging ports among the highlights.
In the UK, Citroen offers the C3 with a 1.2-litre turbocharged direct injection three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 99 hp and 205 Nm of torque, teamed with a 6-speed manual transmission. There’s also a mild-hybrid option, with the same petrol engine and an electric motor that generates 28 hp and 51 Nm of torque. It features a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as standard.

The e-C3 comes in standard-range and long-range variants, featuring 30 kWh and 44 kWh LFP battery packs, respectively. Both share a motor tuned to produce 111 hp and 124.5 Nm of torque. The standard-range variant travels 209 kilometres on a full charge and the extended-range up to 325 kilometres, both as per WLTP.
