Expected to launch around the festive season this year, the Kinetic e-scooter’s design is inspired by the original Kinetic DX ICE scooter
Kinetic Watts & Volts, the EV arm of the Kinetic Group recently filed the design patent of a new electric scooter for the Indian market, where a retro-design inspired by the original Kinetic Honda ZX was seen. In the latest development, the test prototype of the Kinetic e-scooter has been spotted testing for the first time on domestic soil. Expected to go on sale in the coming months, the all-electric Kinetic will likely rival the likes of Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube.
Talking about the test mule, the e-scooter seems to be in its near-production guise and matches the design patent filed by the company last month. The classic retro silhouette of the original Kinetic DX with boxy design elements is carried forward, mixed with a dash of modern touches, such as a rectangular LED headlamp, digital instrument cluster and sharp-looking side mirrors.
Overall, the styling of the upcoming Kinetic electric scooter appears quite neat with clean lines all across the body, which hints that it will be targeted at the affordable end of the segment.

In addition to these, we can also spot tri-spoke wheels, conventional telescopic forks at the front, box-type swing arm with dual shock-absorbers at the rear and a flat floor board. The Kinetic e-scooter is riding on 12-inch wheels with EV-specific MRF tyres. It will get a disc brake at the front and a regular drum unit at the rear. All these aforementioned design and hardware elements can be confirmed from the design patent.
Talking about the powertrain, reports claim that the e-scooter will get a hub-mounted electric motor and the battery pack is positioned on the floorboard. While the technical details of the Kinetic electric scooter are under wraps, we expect it to come with a claimed range of around 100 kilometres on a single charge.

The name trademarks filed earlier this year for the all-electric Kinetic revealed that it will likely be offered in four variants, i.e. EX, ZX, DX and DX+. The variants are expected to be differentiated in terms of equipment on offer with the top-spec variant getting all the bells and whistles.
