Depending on the variant, waiting period for Mahindra XUV 7XO currently ranges from as little as four weeks to as much as 12 months

Mahindra & Mahindra opened bookings for the XUV 7XO in the domestic market midway through this month with reservations available both online and at authorised dealerships for a refundable token amount of Rs. 21,000. Customer deliveries have already begun but only for select variants. The top-spec AX7, AX7T and AX7L trims were the first to roll out while buyers opting for the AX, AX3 and AX5 variants will have to wait until April 2026 for deliveries to commence.

Demand has been exceptionally strong right from day one. Mahindra confirmed that by 2 pm on the opening day of bookings, the XUV 7XO and XEV 9S had already garnered 93,689 reservations. At ex-showroom prices, it translated to a booking value exceeding Rs. 20,500 crore pointing the finger at the scale in which the SUV has clicked with buyers.

The Mahindra XUV 7XO’s waiting period currently ranges from as little as four weeks to as much as 12 months depending on the variant, engine and drivetrain. The longest delays are being faced by customers choosing the entry-level AX trim as you might expect. Both petrol and diesel manual versions of the AX are commanding waiting periods of up to 12 months. Automatic gearboxes are not offered on this trim.

Across petrol and diesel powertrains, and irrespective of whether buyers opt for manual or automatic transmissions, waiting periods are hovering at around five months for the mid-spec AX3 and AX5 variants. The AX7 variants are among the quickest to reach customers as the petrol-powered models, both manual and automatic, are quoted at around four weeks of waiting while diesel versions require approximately six weeks.

At the very top end, the AX7L shows relatively longer timelines. Petrol automatic versions are seeing waiting periods of close to four months while diesel variants including the AWD automatic that is exclusive to this trim are quoted at around six months. Mahindra has reiterated that all waiting periods are indicative and can vary based on dealer-level stock and location. Final delivery timelines are confirmed only after booking.

On the product front, the XUV 7XO follows an evolutionary design approach compared to the XUV 700. However, the cabin has been comprehensively updated with a more modern layout and a triple-screen setup offered as standard. Mechanical changes include a revised suspension setup while engine options remain unchanged with the familiar 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel units paired with six-speed manual and automatic transmissions.
