New Skoda Slavia (2)

New Skoda Slavia with an updated design, several new features, and an all-new transmission expected to be launched in India in the third quarter of the year

In addition to preparing for the new Kushaq launch, Skoda is working on a similar update for the Slavia. The company is testing the new Slavia on the public roads, as part of what seems like the final phase of testing.

Recently, a white facelifted Skoda Slavia was spied on test in Maharashtra, and it featured several changes from the current model. At the front, it’s clear the new Slavia features a redesigned radiator grille with straighter vertical slats and a redesigned lower grille with geometric mesh pattern inserts. The bumper would also carry a different design.

The headlamps of the new Skoda Slavia should feature revised graphics. While the current model features halogen turn indicators, the new model should have turn indicators integrated into the DRLs. This would mean the headlamps would be full-LED units.

On the sides, the facelifted Skoda Slavia will have new 16-inch alloy wheels available in three different designs or new 15-inch steel wheels, depending on the trim. At the rear, Skoda will change the design of the bumper and revise the internals of the tail lamps. The new tail lamps should feature sequential turn indicators.

Inside, one of the spy shots suggests that the new Skoda Slavia will feature a 10.1-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, which should come with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support and Google Gemini-based voice assistant. The picture also reveals a new, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, which should show navigation directions. A rear-seat massage function should be the most significant upgrade in the facelifted Slavia.

Skoda will likely launch the new Slavia with the same 1.0-litre TSI turbocharged three-cylinder and 1.5-litre TSI Evo turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine options as the current model. The former produces 85 kW (114 hp) and 178 Nm of torque, while the latter develops 110 kW (148 hp) and 250 Nm of torque.

The 1.0-litre TSI engine will be linked to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, but unlike in the current model, it will be available with a new, 8-speed automatic transmission option instead of a 6-speed unit. The 1.5-litre TSI Evo engine will come paired with a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission as standard.
