New Tata Sierra has gone past the one lakh booking milestone in just a few months; available in three engine and as many gearbox choices
The return of the Tata Sierra in its new avatar has been well received by Indian buyers. Since bookings opened late last year, customer interest has continued to grow rapidly – pushing total reservations beyond the one lakh mark across the country. In response to the strong demand, Tata Motors has begun increasing production to shorten delivery timelines and meet the growing order backlog.
Positioned above the Tata Curvv in the company’s SUV lineup, the Sierra was launched in November 2025 with prices ranging from Rs. 11.49 lakh to Rs. 21.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The SUV is available in a wide range of trims including Smart+, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Adventure+, Accomplished and Accomplished+ – allowing buyers to choose from multiple feature combinations and powertrain configurations.
Deliveries of the Sierra began around mid-January 2026 and within a short period the company had already shipped more than 14,000 units to dealerships and customers by February. Production is gradually being scaled up at Tata’s manufacturing facilities with suppliers working closely with the automaker to ensure a steady flow of components.

Despite these efforts, the current order volume means customers will still need to wait a few months for delivery. The Sierra presently carries a waiting period of roughly three to four months based on the variant selected. Models equipped with automatic gearboxes generally require a longer wait while diesel-powered versions also take slightly more time to arrive compared to petrol variants.
Colour preferences are also playing a role in delivery timelines. Among the available options, Munnar Mist (Greenish Grey shade) has quickly become the most popular shade among consumers. Other colour schemes are Coorg Clouds (White), Pristine White, Pure Grey, Bengal Rouge (Red) and Andaman Adventure. Under the bonnet, the Sierra offers three engine choices.

The entry-level 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 106 PS and 145 Nm while a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol motor delivers 160 PS and 255 Nm. The diesel lineup features a 1.5-litre engine producing 120 PS and up to 280 Nm of torque. The transmission choices are a six-speed MT, a six-speed AT and a seven-speed dual clutch automatic unit.
Built on Tata’s new ARGOS architecture, the Sierra combines retro-inspired styling cues with modern details. The cabin features a three-screen dashboard layout, a JBL sound system with a dashboard soundbar, wireless charging, panoramic sunroof and a powered tailgate. It also gets Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera system, etc.
