New Tata Sierra is all set to go on sale on November 25 in India, packed with an array of modern features and it is high on practicality and safety as well

The relaunch of the Sierra in its new avatar has been highly anticipated due to various reasons. As the countdown to the 25 November launch begins, Tata is positioning this model as a fusion of heritage and modern technology – packing in an array of features that represent a huge upgrade over its predecessor. After seeing the product a few days ago, we cannot really argue against it!

One of the most eye-catching upgrades is the interior’s triple-screen layout. Positioned across the dashboard, these three screens combine instrumentation, infotainment and a display for the front passenger. The setup elevates the visual wow factor and also signals a more immersive, digitally rich user experience with minimalist physical buttons.

Complementing the digital architecture is a high-fidelity JBL sound system that includes a dashboard-mounted sound bar. Integrated just beneath the central screen, the soundbar uses Dolby Atmos technology to elevate the cabin’s audio environment. Add in door-mounted speakers and a subwoofer, the level of in-car sound immersion should be off the charts.

Under the hood, the Sierra is set to debut an all-new 1.5-litre petrol engine. It will be available in NA and turbo guises with the latter capable of producing 168 PS and 280 Nm. Combined with the proven 1.5-litre diesel engine developing 120 PS and 260 Nm, the new Sierra will undoubtedly be available in an expansive range with multiple transmission choices.

Tata has also introduced practical features that are rare even in more expensive rivals. The extendable sun visors are a clever touch: they slide outwards to provide greater glare protection when the sun is at awkward angles. Meanwhile, auxiliary tail lamps come on whenever the powered tailgate is open. The Sierra’s overall practicality and space shouldn’t be left unnoticed.

Tata has included a massive panoramic sunroof – giving passengers a dramatic view overhead and brightening the cabin in a way that makes it feel more upscale. They’ve also added dual-zone climate control allowing the driver and passenger to set their own temperature preferences. With a bootspace capacity of around 450 litres and a long wheelbase enabling good room for occupants at the back, it looks to tick all the right boxes.

The 360-degree camera helps eliminate blind spots and makes manoeuvring in tight city spaces much more manageable and is complemented by a Level 2 ADAS suite. And for those who carry a lot of luggage, a powered tailgate offers improved convenience. While its design philosophy is the cherry on cake, it has a lot going for it inside the cabin – terrain modes and new floating console for example – to make a strong impact in the midsize SUV segment especially following the modest reception for the Curvv.
