Nissan Gravite

Nissan Gravite will be based on the same platform as Renault Triber and it will be powered by a 1.0L petrol engine

Nissan Motor India is set to kick off 2026 with the launch of its all-new Gravite compact MPV on January 21. The upcoming seven-seater will herald the beginning of Nissan’s next chapter in the Indian market – anchored around a made-in-India product strategy focussing on both domestic buyers and global exports.

The announcement comes on the back of a strong export-led performance in December 2025. Nissan shipped 13,470 vehicles overseas during the month – registering its highest monthly export volume in more than a decade. Domestic wholesale numbers stood at 1,902 units – taking total consolidated sales for December to 15,372 units.

The Gravite will be the first of three new products planned for India over the next two years. Following its launch, Nissan will unveil the Tekton, a new five-seater C-segment SUV, on February 4, 2026. A larger seven-seat C-SUV is also in the pipeline for 2027. All these models will be manufactured in India and selectively exported.

Built on the CMF-A platform, which also underpins the Renault Triber, the Gravite will feature a distinct design compared to its sibling. At the front, it gets a wide blacked-out fascia with a slim LED light strip running across the nose flanked by integrated headlamps and subtle bonnet creases while the Gravite nameplate is prominently showcased as per teasers.

The rear mirrors the front’s design approach with connected LED tail lamps, an upright tailgate, integrated roof spoiler and busy bumper detailing with skid plates. Inside, the MPV will offer a three-row configuration with a modular layout. Powering the Gravite will be 1.0-litre petrol engine in naturally aspirated and turbocharged guises.

Both manual and automatic transmissions are expected. Competitive pricing will more likely be one of the Gravite’s strongest selling points. To support its expanding portfolio, Nissan is also ramping up its dealership and service network – targeting around 250 outlets by FY2027. The Japanese auto major’s exports crossed 1.2 million units cumulatively in 2025.
