The Meta Connect 2025 event saw the introduction of three new pairs of smart glasses from the brand. We already covered the Ray-Ban Display and Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) in a separate post and we will now focus on the Oakley Meta Vanguard.

These feature the well-known visor design popularized by Oakley and add most of the smart features found in the Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2), like hands-free access to Meta AI, up to 3K video recording and open-ear speakers, which Meta claims are the “most powerful” on any of its glasses to date.

All versions of the Vanguard feature Oakley Prizm lenses with gold, black, road and sapphire color options. At the core, the new glasses feature the same 12MP ultrawide camera with a 122° field of view like on the Oakley Meta HSTN but the sensor is now placed in the middle, right above the nose pad. This allows videos to feel more realistic with a first-person point of view.

The glasses record up to 3K video at 30fps and support slow-motion and hyperlapse recording modes. You get 32GB storage and support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity.
These are Meta’s first IP67-rated AI glasses, and they also feature activity sharing with Garmin devices and Strava.

Elsewhere, the Vanguard gets five microphones with two placed in the frame and three near the nose region. Meta also talked about the enhanced speakers, which it claims are 6dB louder than Oakley Meta HSTN.
Battery life is rated at up to 6 hours of continuous audio playback and 9 hours of general usage. The case provides an additional 36 hours of charging. A full charge should take 75 minutes.
Oakley Meta Vanguard will be available in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Australia, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Switzerland, and the Netherlands at launch. They are also set to arrive in Mexico, India, Brazil, and the United Arab Emirates later this year.
They are up for pre-order for $499/€549/£499 from meta.com and oakley.com. Open sales start on October 21.
