Renault has confirmed that four new models will be designed and manufactured in India before 2030 – covering powertrain options including ICE, hybrid and all- electric setups

Renault Group has unveiled a new roadmap under its futuREady strategy and it confirms that India is all set to play a far bigger role in the brand’s global operations than before. The country is expected to become a crucial production, development and export hub for the French automaker as a key part of this strategy will be Renault’s manufacturing facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

It is gradually evolving into one of the company’s most important global hubs. Operational since 2010, the plant has already produced more than 2.8 million vehicles with about 1.2 million units shipped to over 100 international markets. With an installed production capacity of roughly four lakh vehicles per year, the site is well positioned to support Renault’s future export ambitions.

The domestic market will also play a significant role in Renault’s upcoming product pipeline. The company has confirmed that four new models will be designed and manufactured in India before 2030 – covering a variety of powertrain options including internal combustion, hybrid and fully electric setups. The new Duster, unveiled in January, along with its 7-seater iteration and an affordable EV will be part of the strategy.

One of the earliest previews of this direction is the Renault Bridger Concept, a compact B-segment SUV that hints at a future production model by late 2027. The vehicle is expected to enter production in India before gradually expanding to other markets. Renault plans to offer multiple propulsion options depending on the region and it will sit on the same architecture as the Duster which is heavily localised.

Apart from India, the futuREady roadmap also outlines Renault’s ambitions globally. The brand is preparing an aggressive product push that will see more than two dozen new vehicles launched in the coming years. It is intended to strengthen Renault’s presence in both its traditional European stronghold and rapidly developing international markets.

In Europe, Renault aims to transition its lineup to 100 per cent electrified powertrains by 2030 – supported by its E-Tech hybrid and electric technologies. In international markets, where infrastructure development varies, the company plans to gradually increase electrified offerings so that around half of its sales come from hybrid or electric vehicles by the end of the decade.

Renault will rely on several regional production hubs across the world including facilities in Latin America, South Korea and India. Among these, India is expected to emerge as one of the most strategically important locations thanks to its growing supplier ecosystem, competitive manufacturing costs and local market’s vast sales potential.

By the end of the decade, Renault hopes these initiatives will help it surpass two million vehicles in annual global sales. Just as importantly, the automaker wants around half of its total sales to come from markets outside Europe.
