According to one publication quoted by Ice Universe, Samsung will launch its first tri-foldable next month. The news comes with some key details about the phone, even though Samsung has been fairly secretive about it.
The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold will allegedly measure 4.2mm thick when opened and 14mm when closed. For comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold7 (a bi-fold model) measures the same 4.2mm when opened and 8.9mm when closed (note that the hinge leaves a small gap, which adds to the thickness).
The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is allegedly coming on December 5
The Z TriFold will boast a similar 6.5” cover display and a larger 10” inner display – that inner display will have a wide-screen aspect ratio, unlike the square-ish 8” display of the Z Fold7.
The phone will have a 5,600mAh battery capacity, which will be split between three cells, one in each segment. The Z Fold7 has a 4,400mAh battery split between two cells.
A report from Korean publication The Chosun confirms the timing and the details about the phone. Note that the Z TriFold will only be manufactured in limited quantities and it will be quite expensive (that last part is no surprise). It will only be available in select markets too, so you may not even have the option of splurging on one.
Galaxy Z TriFold specs according to The Chosun (plus machine translation)
So far, Samsung has officially shown only prototype units of the Galaxy Z TriFold. You can see a video that shows how the phone will unfold here.
This will change soon – if this latest information is correct, Samsung will launch the Galaxy Z TriFold on December 5.
