Suzuki Across gets Toyota’s new generation plug-in hybrid system which combines a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine and two electric motors

The latest iteration of the Across has broken covers further extending Suzuki’s partnership with Toyota. Essentially derived from the Toyota RAV4, the refreshed Across carries forward the shared engineering bits while introducing its own styling elements, upgraded cabin and enhanced safety bits. The SUV continues with a plug-in hybrid configuration.

At the heart of the 2026 Suzuki Across sits Toyota’s new generation plug-in hybrid system. It combines a 2.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 141 hp at 4,800 rpm and up to 226 Nm of torque at 3,200 rpm. The powertrain intelligently alternates between port and direct fuel injection to maximise efficiency under varying driving conditions.

Supporting the petrol engine are two electric motors that contribute to better performance and smoother power delivery while also helping improve overall fuel economy. On the safety front, Suzuki has equipped the Across with a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance systems. A millimetre wave radar working alongside a monocular camera enables the Pre-Collision System, which can detect vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists.

The system provides alerts and can intervene with braking or steering support if required. Additional features include lane departure alert with steering correction, automatic emergency braking, lane-change assist, proactive driving assist, front cross-traffic alert, driver fatigue monitoring and a 360-degree camera system offering a 3D surround view.

Step inside and the SUV gets what being called the “island architecture” layout. Controls and displays are grouped into clearly separated zones – making them easier to access and operate. The dashboard is dominated by a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster and a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The digital display can be customised with multiple layouts including navigation-focussed and eco-themed views.

The new Across introduces a head-up display for the first time. It projects essential driving data such as speed and navigation guidance directly onto the windshield at a virtual distance of roughly 13 to 20 feet. The equipment list also includes a wireless charging pad and five USB-C ports. On the outside, the Suzuki Across presents a distinctive front grille design.

It is accompanied by sculpted bumper and strong character lines while chunky wheel arch cladding and large alloy wheels add to its stance. Consumers can choose from four exterior shades: Massive Grey Metallic, Ever Rest Metallic, Super White and Attitude Black Metallic.
