Tata Motors has announced a major overhaul of its commercial vehicle portfolio with the launch of 17 new trucks comprising gross vehicle weights from 7 tonnes to 55 tonnes. A major significance of the announcement is the debut of the Azura range which is developed specifically for the intermediate and light CV classes.

The Azura trucks will be offered in configurations ranging from 7 to 19 tonnes and they target applications such as e-commerce, FMCG distribution, white goods transport, construction materials, agricultural produce and regional logistics. Powering the range is a new 3.6L diesel engine – developed to deliver high uptime, improved efficiency and class-leading performance.

Tata Azura Next Gen 2026

The homegrown manufacturer has upgraded its entire truck portfolio consisting Azura, Prima, Signa and Ultra to meet the stringent ECE R29.03 crash safety standard. In addition, the trucks are equipped with up to 23 India-specific active safety features including adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and collision mitigation systems.

They are supported by real-time driver behaviour monitoring through the Fleet Edge connected platform. Tata claims payload improvements of up to 1.8 tonnes across select models to directly increase earning potential per trip. Drivetrain enhancements, led by the 6.7L Cummins diesel engine, are said to deliver fuel economy gains of up to 7 per cent.

Tata Ultra E1.2 Next Gen 2026

The mechanical upgrades are complemented by Fleet Edge Priority services which provide real-time vehicle health data, predictive analytics and trip optimisation insights. On the electrification front, Tata has brought in India’s widest electric truck portfolio under the Tata Trucks.ev brand. It is based on the new J-MOEV (Intelligent Modular Electric Vehicle) architecture.

The electric range spans from 7 tonnes to 55 tonnes which includes the Ultra EV in 7-, 9- and 12-tonne configurations, the Prima E.28K electric tipper and the Prima E.55S electric prime mover. The Prima E.55S boasts a peak output of 470 kW (630 hp) and a large 453 kWh battery pack – targeting heavy duty and long haul applications with reduced operating costs.

Meanwhile, the Prima E.28K electric tipper is positioned for construction and mining use with high torque delivery and faster turnaround times.
