Tata plans to launch the Punch EV facelift, Sierra EV and first model from the flagship Avinya series this year in India
Tata Motors is scaling up its EV infrastructure in parallel with its product expansion. The company has already confirmed plans to deploy close to four lakh charging points by 2027 which include over 30,000 public fast chargers through its EV Open Collaboration initiative. Dedicated EV service bays, battery repair facilities and support infrastructure will also be expanded nationwide.
Pushing sustainability further, Tata will introduce battery health certification and refurbishment programmes aimed at second owners while end-of-life battery packs will be repurposed for stationary energy storage. A major localisation milestone will come from Agratas’ upcoming Sanand gigafactory which will supply high voltage battery cells for Tata’s future EVs.
The first major production introduction for calendar year 2026 begins soon as the production-ready Sierra EV will enter the market in the coming months. The electrified Sierra will leverage the strong reception of its ICE counterpart and will be offered with two battery pack options enabling a claimed range of over 500 km on a single charge and it will support fast charging too.

Sharing the 2026 spotlight will be a revised Punch EV which is expected to consolidate Tata’s position in the high volume compact EV segment and recently the ICE model received its mid-cycle update. With the Punch already established as a mass-market favourite, the updated electric version could help appeal to more buyers with exterior and interior revisions.
Towards the latter part of CY2026, Tata will unveil the first model from the Avinya series – a premium EV lineup positioned above its existing electric models. First previewed through multiple concept iterations, the Avinya range will sit at the top of Tata’s EV hierarchy and introduce a new design and technology direction for the brand with a sportback being the likely preferred body style.

By FY2030, the automaker intends to have at least five all-new electric nameplates on sale – supported by regular facelifts, feature upgrades and software-based improvements across the portfolio. The passenger EV segment leader has already crossed 2.5 lakh EV sales in India within five years with the Nexon EV becoming the first zero-emission vehicle in the country to surpass one lakh units.
