While Maruti Suzuki retained its uncontested lead in the Indian car market in February 2026, Tata Motors and Mahindra were closely matched for second place on the sales chart, with the former securing the position by a narrow margin. The company saw a 28.06% rise in sales compared to February 2025 and had a market share of 41.45%. Tata Motors recorded a much stronger year-on-year growth of 43.29%, selling 50,654 cars. The company’s market share stood at 13.67%.
Mahindra missed the second position by just 754 units. The SUV-focused company sold 49,900 vehicles in February 2026 and enjoyed a market share of 13.46%. Its sales were up 20.07% year-on-year. Hyundai, once usually among the market’s top three players, was in the fourth position. The South Korean automaker delivered 45,213 cars in India last month and held a market share of 12.20%. It saw a 17.26% year-on-year growth in sales.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) was in the fifth position on the February 2026 sales chart, with 26,095 units delivered. The company posted a 14% year-on-year growth in sales and held a 7.04% market share. Hyundai’s sister brand Kia was in the sixth position, with 24,690 cars sold, up 26.94% from February 2025. The company’s market share stood at 6.66%.
Volkswagen and Skoda together sold 7,578 cars in February 2026, up 12.25% from the same month last year. The European duo held a minuscule market share of 2.04%. Honda ranked eighth on the sales chart, with 4,759 cars sold, down 11.03% from February 2025. The Japanese automaker’s market share was just 1.28%.

Renault sold 3,240 cars in February 2026, recording a 27.46% year-on-year growth, and its market share stood at 0.87%. Nissan, with 1,616 units sold, saw a 7.23% year-on-year decline, and it held a market share of 0.44%. Both Renault and Nissan are expected to see a massive spike in sales in the coming months with the arrival of the third-generation Duster and the first-ever Tekton, respectively.
