Tata Sierra EV will be offered with two battery packs and it will be based on the Acti.ev+ platform
Tata Motors has confirmed that the all-electric Sierra will reach Indian showrooms in the opening quarter of FY27 – placing its market entry between April and June 2026. The SUV has already been seen undergoing extensive road test evaluation as the development is entering its final stretch ahead of production. From a positioning standpoint, the Sierra EV will occupy a more premium space above the Curvv EV in the company’s expanding electric lineup.
It is expected to cater to buyers who want a midsize SUV with good road presence, an upmarket cabin and high range capability. Both single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations are expected. Under the skin, the Sierra EV will utilise Tata’s Acti.ev+ skateboard platform – a dedicated EV architecture that will find its way to several upcoming electrified models.
It is also set to share several components with the Tata Harrier EV. Battery options are likely to include a 55 kWh pack – similar to the Curvv EV – and a larger 65 kWh unit from the Harrier EV. With the bigger battery, real-world range figures are expected to comfortably cross 500 km per charge. DC fast charging support will be present while vehicle-to-load (V2L) and bidirectional charging functionality are also on the cards.

While the upright silhouette and boxy stance nod to the original Sierra, the EV version gets a closed-off grille section, a full-width LED DRL signature and split headlamp clusters. Newly designed alloy wheels, flush-fitting door handles, muscular wheel arches and contrast-finished bumpers are expected along with a connected LED light bar.
Tata is preparing a heavily digital interior environment centred around a three-screen layout – a digital driver’s display, a large infotainment unit and a dedicated passenger-side screen. Even entry-level trims are projected to be well equipped while higher variants may introduce Level 2 ADAS, connected car technology, powered front seats, ambient lighting, 360-degree camera and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Tata recently rolled out the updated Tata Punch EV while the first production model from the Avinya will arrive before the closure of this calendar year as well to consolidate the brand’s EV portfolio.
