New Tata Sierra is available in three engine choices including a newly developed 1.5L TGDI petrol engine producing 160 PS max power and 255 Nm of peak torque
The all-new Tata Sierra has created plenty of buzz and it is hard not to see why. Based on a new modular ARGOS platform, the midsize SUV carries a competitive starting price of Rs. 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and is packed to the gills right from the base variant. The flexibility of the architecture meant that it will spawn new seating layouts and multiple powertrain options in the near future.
While the electric version of the Sierra has been confirmed to launch early next year, a seven-seater avatar and a CNG version also appear to be on the cards. In addition, paying tribute to the original Sierra, the new model will also feature a four-wheel-drive system in less than a couple of years. One of the key attractions to the new Sierra is its design.
Some of its styling attributes clearly signals towards the first-gen Sierra while keeping the modernity in tact and courtesy of a long wheelbase and wheels pushed to the edges, it offers a spacious interior with the boot volume standing at 622 litres. The five-seater also welcomes a brand new Hyperion petrol engine into Tata’s domestic portfolio.

The 1.5-litre direct injection turbocharged petrol engine churns out 160 PS maximum power and 255 Nm of peak torque. It can be had with only a six-speed torque converter automatic unit. The performance-based powertrain is also expected to be the most fuel efficient turbocharged gasoline mill in its class.
The familiar 1.5-litre diesel engine is also available producing 120 PS and up to 280 Nm in the automatic trim. The NA 1.5-litre petrol engine delivers 106 PS and 145 Nm. The former can be bought with a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed AT while the latter comes with a six-speed MT or a seven-speed dual clutch auto.
