In January 2026, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga continued to sit on top of the 7-seater sales table ahead of Scorpio, Bolero, XUV 7XO, Innova and Carens

The three-row segment endured a good start to the new calendar year with several established nameplates posting healthy year-on-year gains. At the top of the table was the ever-consistent Maruti Suzuki Ertiga which recorded 17,892 units in January 2026 compared to 14,248 units during the corresponding period twelve months ago.

It led to a 26 per cent growth on a YoY basis. Finishing behind in the second position was the Mahindra Scorpio with 15,542 units last month – almost flat compared to 15,442 units a year ago with a modest 1 per cent increase. The Scorpio N is all set to receive a mid-cycle update soon in India while the Thar three-door will also get a facelift this year.

The third spot went to the Mahindra Bolero which emerged as one of the biggest gainers among high volume models. The domestic numbers increased by 36 per cent year-on-year – climbing to 11,841 units from 8,682 units in January 2025. In fourth place, the recently introduced Mahindra XUV 7XO registered 10,133 units.

The fifth position was claimed by the Toyota Innova range comprising the Innova Crysta and Hycross, which posted 9,455 units, slightly lower than the 9,780 units recorded a year earlier with a 3 per cent decline on a YoY basis. Meanwhile, the Kia Carens secured sixth place with 5,633 units, up marginally from 5,522 units with a 2 per cent improvement.

Further down the list, the Maruti Suzuki XL6 reported 3,820 units – down 13 per cent compared to 4,403 units last year. The Toyota Fortuner followed with 3,046 units with a slight 3 per cent dip from 3,149 units sold during the same period last year. In contrast, the Renault Triber stood out with a massive 72 per cent surge to 2,509 units from 1,456 units.

The Tata Safari rounded off the top ten with 2,375 units – up 53 per cent year-on-year from 1,548 units. The arrival of the petrol version of the Safari recently looks to be attracting more buyers into Tata’s fold.
