In the list of top 10 7-seaters in June 2025, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga led the way ahead of Mahindra Scorpio, Toyota Innova and Kia Carens

Seven-seaters continue to anchor family-oriented segments in India but the June 2025 sales chart reveals a sharply uneven narrative. While a handful of models show signs of improvement, several others are grappling with declining traction. The familiar names continue to drive sales irrespective of the volumes.

Leading the volume table, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga finished the month of June atop with 14,151 units. Despite its familiar dominance, volumes were down by 11 per cent from the same period last year. The Toyota Innova, often a benchmark in its premium space, recorded a total of 8,802 units – reflecting a 6 per cent decline.

On the other hand, Mahindra Scorpio managed to inch forward, posting a 4 per cent gain year-on-year with 12,740 units. It held on to second position, just ahead of the Innova as the Scorpio N as well as the Scorpio Classic continue to maintain their consistent run. The strongest upward movement came from the Kia Carens which surged 54 per cent compared to June 2024.

9 Toyota Rumion (-10%) 1,415 1,566
10 Tata Safari (-34%) 922 1,394

With 7,921 units dispatched, the Carens appears to have hit a stride – possibly benefiting from increased acceptance for the recently launched Carens Clavis ICE version. Its range will be further expanded with the arrival of the Clavis EV scheduled to go on sale on July 15 in India. Further down, Mahindra retained its presence with two more models showing steady footing.

The Bolero, long-standing in rural and utility markets, recorded 7,478 units, up by 2 per cent. The XUV700, Mahindra’s more premium three-row option, closed the month at 6,198 units, a 5 per cent increase over last year. Toyota Fortuner saw a marginal gain of 3 per cent, ending at 2,743 units.

The lower ranks saw considerable drops: Maruti Suzuki XL6 fell 39 per cent to 2,011 units while Toyota Rumion recorded a 10 per cent dip with 1,415 units. Tata Safari, despite its updates and repositioning in recent years, closed June with just 922 units – down by 34 per cent when compared to the same period last year.

It is no secret that buyers continue to lean toward established seven-seaters  – especially those with proven versatility and brand trust in India. Others particularly in the premium or overlap segments are struggling to hold attention and volume as the market grows more discerning.
