Passenger vehicle market sales in Q3 CY25 stood at 10,52,845 units against 10,56,178 units with a modest decline of 0.32 per cent in India
The PV market remained largely stable through the third quarter of 2025 – closing at 10,52,845 units against 10,56,178 units in the same period last year with a marginal decline of just 0.32 per cent. Despite the overall flat outcome, manufacturer-wise performance varied with a few players recording significant year-on-year gains.
Maruti Suzuki continued to dominate the charts – wholesaling 4,01,875 units during Q3 2025. However, this was a drop of 23,625 units compared with last year enabling a 5.55 per cent fall. The carmaker still commanded a commanding 38.17 per cent share while Mahindra moved up the rankings ahead of Tata Motors.
Mahindra held on to second spot dispatching 1,45,503 units – up 7.02 per cent year-on-year. Sustained demand for the Scorpio N, Thar, XUV700 and the XUV 3XO helped the brand strengthen its standing – pushing its share to 13.82 per cent. Tata Motors followed closely with 1,40,189 units reporting a 7.89 per cent growth.

Hyundai slipped to fourth position with 1,39,521 units – a 6.76 per cent decline versus last year. Toyota, on the other hand, registered a total of 85,550 units in the period between July and September 2025 with a healthy 4.43 per cent gain – on the back of sustained demand for badge engineered models, Hyryder, Innova Hycross and Fortuner.
Kia recorded 64,443 unit sales which were down by 3.17 per cent YoY. Among the fastest climbers were MG Motor and Škoda. MG clocked 19,984 units, a jump of 45.54 per cent, led by the Windsor EV. Škoda more than doubled its numbers to 17,161 units thanks to the good reception for the Kylaq compact SUV and its midsize offerings.

Honda, Renault and Volkswagen experienced modest slowdowns while Nissan, Citroën and Jeep continued to post low-volume figures as their product ranges remain limited. With the festive quarter running and multiple launches scheduled, Q4 2025 could bring a good rebound in wholesales.
