In the list of top 10 compact SUVs in October 2025, Tata Nexon sat first ahead of Fronx, Punch, Sonet and XUV 3X0
The market for compact SUVs in India continues to be one of the most fiercely contested segments and the October 2025 sales chart perfectly represents the high stakes battle among automakers. Tata, Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and recent entrants like Skoda have all brought their A-game and they certainly took advantage of the festive season.
Heading the way once again is the Tata Nexon – recording an impressive 22,083 units in October 2025 with a healthy 50 per cent jump year-on-year. The Nexon’s expanded variant lineup and wide range of engines continue to appease consumers. It is also packed with features and technologies. The next-gen Nexon is expected to arrive in a couple of years.
Hot on Tata’s trail is Maruti Suzuki’s Fronx which managed to clock 17,003 units. Built on the Baleno’s Heartect platform, the Fronx’s coupe-like styling, efficient engine and a variety of trims have helped it carve a fanbase in the sub-four-metre space. Despite a maturing market, it still managed a modest 4 per cent year-on-year growth.

The Tata Punch followed in the third position with 16,810 units as it continues to maintain its momentum in the micro SUV space. Its top notch build quality, tall stance and value-driven variants appeal to families and first-time SUV buyers. The mid-life update for the ICE Punch is expected to arrive following the launch of the Sierra and petrol-spec Harrier and Safari by early 2026.
Meanwhile, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza saw 12,072 units with a year-on-year dip of 27 per cent. Hyundai’s Venue, on the other hand, maintained good performance with 11,738 units ensuring an 8 per cent gain.
