The table of top 10 hatchbacks in September 2025 saw Maruti Suzuki WagonR headed the way ahead of its siblings Baleno and Swift
The hatchback segment had an interesting turn out last month at least in som quarters. The biggest headline came from the Maruti Suzuki WagonR which once again proved why it is a mass-market favourite. It posted 18,970 units in October 2025 compared to 13,922 units last year, a massive 36 per cent jump as the GST 2.0 price drop could not have come at a better time.
Right behind it, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno stayed consistent with 16,873 units – only slightly higher than the 16,082 units it managed a year ago. The 5 per cent YoY growth isn’t dramatic but it reinforces that the premium hatchback has a loyal base. In contrast, the Maruti Suzuki Swift slipped to 15,542 units from 17,539 units last year with an 11 per cent drop.
The Tiago posted 8,850 units, up from just 4,682 units last year, resulting in a massive 89 per cent YoY sales surge as it had the highest YoY growth of them all. Its presence in the top five highlights that customers continue to value its safety-first build, affordability and expansive range. The Altroz also climbed strongly to 3,770 units compared to 2,642 units last year with a 43 per cent rise.
