Toyota Urban Cruiser BEV will get 49 kWh and 61.1 kWh battery packs similar to the e Vitara and it will boast a range close to 550 km

Toyota has officially teased the Urban Cruiser BEV for the Indian market a couple of times already confirming its debut on January 19, 2026. The upcoming model will be Toyota’s first zero-emission vehicle for India and is developed as part of Toyota’s strategic collaboration with Suzuki. It shares its underpinnings with the soon-to-be-launched Maruti Suzuki e Vitara.

On the outside, the front fascia features sleek LED headlamps with integrated DRLs. A BEV badge positioned near the front fender subtly indicates the charging port location. From the side profile, the proportions and design language appear almost identical to the e Vitara while the 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels can be seen clearly as well.

Manufacturing duties for the Urban Cruiser BEV will be handled at Suzuki’s Gujarat plant where it will be built on the Heartect e platform. The architecture has been developed specifically for electric vehicles and allows extensive component sharing between Toyota and Suzuki. Courtesy of common utilisation of battery layouts, electronics and systems, Toyota could price the Urban Cruiser BEV competitively.
