Triumph Motorcycles has reached a significant milestone in the Indian market with more than one lakh motorcycles now running on the country’s roads. It indicates an important moment for the British brand’s expansion in India and shows the good reception its motorcycles have among enthusiasts, especially the 400 cc models. Backed by its collaboration with Bajaj Auto, the brand has rapidly strengthened its position in the entry-level middleweight motorcycle segment.

The partnership between Triumph and Bajaj began gaining strength from the second quarter of 2023 and since then the growth trajectory has been notable. The synergy of combining Triumph’s global engineering expertise with Bajaj Auto’s manufacturing capabilities, research and development resources and extensive distribution network has worked a treat.

The alliance has managed to scale up operations at an impressive rate. One of the most visible outcomes of this partnership has been the expansion of Triumph’s retail footprint across India. The brand is now present in over 200 towns – supported by a network of more than 230 retail outlets. Besides sales numbers, Triumph Motorcycles has also invested in building a strong rider community in India.

Initiatives such as World of Triumph and the globally recognised Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride have helped bring enthusiasts together. Triumph has also been actively organising riding events tailored for Indian terrain and riding preferences. Programs such as Triumph Tiger Trails, Scrambler Rides, Bike Nights and curated rides through scenic routes like the Western Ghats twisties have allowed riders to experience the motorcycles in environments that suit their character.

Another key factor behind the milestone is the local manufacturing of the Triumph 400 series in India. The motorcycles produced here are not limited to the domestic market. They are exported to 18 international markets including countries such as Japan, Australia, Mexico, Taiwan and South Korea. The global export strategy points the finger at how India has become an important production hub within Triumph’s international operations.
